    Lick lick lick!

Maya is a licker. She loves to lick people to the point where guests are super annoyed with her. I don't want to scold her for licking people, but is there anything I can do to maybe lessen the amount of kisses she gives? Her favorite thing to do is give me kisses with a mouth full of water!

I have 2 super lickers, my lab and corgi. Both understand no more kisses when it get excessive. Start working on that. I didnt do anything special to teach them, just kept repeating it and sorta pushed them away at the same time. I just kept repeating myself until they got it

Lickers will always be lickers though, you can control it of course to a degree but I dont think you can eliminate it

And Zoeys favorite time to lick is also with a mouthful of water

Max is a jumper and licker. If you lrt him give you a kiss he is your friend for life.

Scarlett no way, a sniff and thats it she walks away.

    They all are different.

My Kaity is a licker. A very hard habit to break or lessen, in my opinion.

I hate that. Jet licked lotion and suntan lotion off. My sister's new pup just licked and my darn niece encouraged her. We had to be very firm to stop it. Both submissive girls, all it took was a good shove away and a firm word and a dirty look.

Archie is a licker. We're still trying to at least to lessen it. He'll lick anyone, anytime. It's sweet but I don't want him licking small children he's only just met; some parents are very against that. Right now I carry baby wipes to offer for a clean up. It's doesn't bother me except how much it does it. We've been working on no lick and he is improving but I think he will always be a licker.

Mardi does not lick which I found odd for a lab.

Since Thor was a nippy puppy we worked a lot on 'nicely' to switch the mouthy behavior from a bite to a kiss. Now we're paying for it! He's definitely a licker, but he's starting to understand 'done' when we push him away.

Emma is a "kisser"! We taught her by gently pushing her away and telling her "enough".

With my Cocker Spaniel years ago, I would gently hold his tongue and say "no lickies". I wouldn't pinch it, but just hold it until it was annoying to him. It didn't take long. But my BIL loved to get dog kisses, so my cocker spaniel learned it was ok to lick him but nobody else. However, if I was aggravating him (usually with forced cuddling), he would lick me right in the face. OK, I deserved that

But I think Mocha is on a whole different level of licking! I've thought about only teaching him to lick when asked (kisses). This works (most of the time) with jumping. When we say Up, he can jump up on us, but no other time. But the licking has gone on a long time and I haven't been consistent with it.

He loves my lotion. My Olay face lotion is his favorite. Or any cocoa butter lotion. I just get out of the shower and slather on my lotion and then there's Mocha licking it all off. Silly dog!

Bella is a licker and Bailey is not. In fact, I would love it if Bailey would even give me one little lick just to show me that she has some affection for me! lol. With Bella though, after I've had enough I just say "okay, enough licking" and she stops. I guess I've been saying that enough since she was a pup that she finally gets what that means.

oh and Bella loves lotions also. I can't get her to stop licking if it's the lotion she is after. I have to just walk away from her.
