No ideas. I don't think most vests are meant for that kind of protection. Maybe a neoprene one for retrieving in cold water might help. I think it was a freaky, one-off, even though I know personally of a dog who did the same thing. In the case of the ESS we meet, the stick (her owners think it was stick in the bush) went behind a front leg and under the reflective vest she was wearing for hunting season. They thank their lucky stars the vest did not hang up on the stick or other brush and trap her. The stick did not go too deeply and did not hit any organs. Even after seeing her stitches I did not consider putting a vest on Oban, not for that kind of protection.
