Aye Mates,

Another waterfowl season has come and gone, me 47th and already I yearn for the next. Me times spent sharing a blind with me cherished gun dogs and gunning Mates some now gone cause me to reflect on how precious are those special moments frozen on me mind. Heads o' wood, bodies o' cork, and eyes o’ glass, if only decoys could speak of the glorious hunts witnessed by their stoic gaze, the stormy waters ridden, the birds sucked in to range of the gunners, the laughs shared in boats and blinds and amazing feats of dog work some truly epic. These birds did speak to me as I photographed them today, they called for me to return again next season and to share once again in the special life shared by fowlers.

Dedicated to the late Rob Beecher, a fellow retriever fanatic and gunning Mate lost to the harsh winds and waters o’ January whilst fowling and sadly missed by all that gunned with him.
