Marbel Size lump under front right arm pit

I noticed a small marble sized lump under my dogs front right arm pit. He is 6 1/2 now (golden retriever lab mix), eats a good diet, gets walked twice a day, trips to the beach couple times a month. He isn't fat by any means but I have been making an effort to loose a few pounds he gained while my mobility was limited after a pretty major knee surgery.

Should I be concerned with this? I've heard it could just be a fatty lump but have also heard based on the location it could be serious? I don't know if it is my imagination but I think it has gotten slightly smaller since I noticed it about a month ago. I have been feeling and checking it regularly. Any advise would be great prior to taking a trip to the vet

    Thanks !

I always get lumps and bumps checked by the vet, just to be safe. Good thoughts that it is nothing serious!

    Welcome Back!

Yes, I would also get it checked out. An almost painless fine needle biopsy can be done to check cells. With our seniors, lumps and bumps live here. As long as they did not hinder movement or cause discomfort, we let them be (of course after having them checked out). A lump in the armpit may be uncomfortable if it gets larger.

    Please keep us updated.

Get it checked out first. If it is a cyst, that area is hard to heal. We did nothing to Rookie's. It just got bigger but he was fine.

Most likely a lipoma. Is it loose in the skin and not attached to the body? But you do need to have I checked by the vet just to be sure. With all my dogs and all the MANY lumps, we've had 3 lumps that had to be removed. One was just a fatty lump but grew too fast too big, one was cancer, one was benign but we didn't know until it was removed and biopsied at a lab.

It feels attached to me. Going to try to get him into the vet sometime this week.

yes, a trip to the vet. could be a lipoma or a lymph node. i'd be more comfortable to have a vet tell me.

Could be a gland or a cyst. If it feels attached to the body, I would probably look at it sooner than later. Good luck. Hopefully it ends up being nothing.
