The (actual) scent of burnt toast

    Hi all,

You know how when you're near a coffee shop (usually Tim Horton's around here), and you can smell burnt toast in the air all around? I mean, in the parking lot and down the street, etc...

Well, it's happened twice now...when I have Sophie with me, either outside walking or in the car with the windows open, she smells like burnt toast smell in the air and starts TREMBLING and making little whiny noises. Is this some sort of doggy detection mechanism, or could it be something far worse??

I've tried googling it but haven't had much luck...results are usually about how NOT to give a dog burnt toast to eat. :/

    Thanks,
    Jen & Sophie

Lots of dogs don't like the smell of smoke...I imagine that could be the cause of this.

My first Basenji would curl up her muzzle if anyone smoked around her (not angry, just "oh, ick"). She also hated (!!!) the smell of rubber bands (our newspaper used to be delivered with a band around it).
