    New member with a question!

I was referred to this board by a local lab rescue. I currently have a 5 year old lab who we LOVE, great farm dog, loves my kids, he is just a good boy!

Several weeks ago I picked up a lab mix from someone who said they could not keep him and he is not doing well on the farm, very strong prey drive.

Is there a location on this board to post about dogs available for re-homing? He is a great boy otherwise, but he needs to be in a home without other animals (goats, horses, cats, etc).

    Thanks!

    Hello and Welcome!

There used to be a rescue section. Are there any dog or lab specific rescues near you?

Just looked, there is a rescue and adoption section near the bottom of the listed sections.

Hello and welcome! The most appropriate place here is probably this:

    Rescue and Adoption

at least I think it is, or you could try the Fire Hydrant section as there's a lot going on and your post probably won't go unnoticed. Good luck!!!

I have contacted a couple of lab rescues but they are both full, they have also stated they tend to get dogs from high kill shelters and not surrenders. But, one did point me here, so I thought it was worth a shot!

Have you thought of training him?

I have done what I can in the short time I have had him, but, Friday he attacked our pet goat and he had to be put down, that was the last straw. Its like his brain shut off and I was invisible to him. He knows "drop it" and that did not work, he would.not.let go. I actually even had him on a leash at that time. It seemed like an eternity before I was finally able to pry him off, all while my son screamed in horror.

If he would have attacked and then released it would be a different story, but he did not. I can not trust him off a leash or tether and I don't know that even with the best of professional training that that would change.

Life is Labs is a rescue in GA at 1485 Old Draketown Trail, Temple, Georgia 30179. Maybe you could try them.
