I'm not tech-savvy--this message had the Google logo above it, but I didn't want to click on anything I shouldn't!
I never delete my old emails because I was under the impression that they just drop off after a certain amount, but maybe there are too many pictures that friends emailed to me? Could this be the problem?

Yes delete, its a spam email. Someone looking for your info. I recently got one from someone claiming to be visa credit card telling me security was compromised and I needed to revalidate my online password.
Scam. No way in h3!! are you going to exceed 30 gb with email.
But before you delete it, report it it to google as a phishing scam.
About phishing - Accounts Help
You are right, do not click on anything. Delete it. It sounds very suspicious. If you want to know if it's real, log in and look at your account without clicking on anything in that email. You should report it as someone else has already stated.
It's a scam..don't fall for it. Also, report it to Google..
DOGS ROCK!!!
And to further solidify it's a scam.

I would ignore as well.
If you must click the link enter something other than your password and see what happens. If a bogus site it most likely will indicate success even though you entered the wrong password.

Wow, thank you everybody! I think I can just go & delete the email, & I will try to contact Gmail. I'm not sure how to do that, but will try to figure it out. Probably go to my account? Sorry, so clueless here.....I have written down everything the email said, just as I did above, so I can tell Gmail exactly what the email said.
I really appreciate you all!
