After 2 setbacks with my breeder, (neither of them were their fault) I got the EMAIL today I have a puppy! Im in tears as I write this. The mom had 4 boys, and 4 girls. I have pick of the females. Talking to the breeder in the past, 1st pick really doesn't matter. Your thoughts? Im so freaking scared! puppy books puppy school, you name it... I did SIRIUS puppy school with Abbs, and really liked that. I would like to post pictures of the progress, but not quite sure how. My breeder will send pics every Monday. her arrival date to me is Dec 8th. I have so much to do in such little time.....

Yay. How old are the pups now? Close enough to visit? To help with the unbearable waiting till you get your we girl?
Darn, I deleted something that came in my mail last week, about puppy testing, from Jane Killion. She wrote "When Pigs Fly." I'm not sure if this latest was meant for the breeder or the potential owner when picking a puppy out.

Hi, Congratulations on joining the class of 2018! To me it seems like a more puppy-filled year than most. Our lab breeders have always picked our pups for us so I have no advice on that front. I would just say that one visit to see the puppies is not the best way to determine which one you want or which one would be a good fit. Our first lab, Chase, slept through the entire visit but he turned out to be just the best boy. While he turned into a very mellow and tolerant adult, which is what we wanted, he was a wild child for the first few years. That sleeping puppy might have been overlooked as being too blah when in fact, he was just recharging his batteries. If you have certain characteristics that you're looking for in a puppy/dog, I'd be sure to let the breeder know what you're hoping for with your new pup and let him/her guide your selection. They will have spent so much time with the puppies that even though they may not "pick" the puppy for you, they should hopefully be able to offer informed opinions on their little personalities. I've heard breeders say that if the puppies are carefully bred for good temperament and health, there may be variations in their personalities, but they all will turn into nice dogs.
Good luck with your wait, it's a long time to be both excited and a little scared, but plenty of time to gather all the material needs and read up on having a puppy again.
Congrats! Are you close enough to visit? When we got our griff puppy this year, all I had was photos. Breeder was going to give me his picks and fortunately my favorite was one of his top picks.

Yahoo! Who are the parents? I wonder if your baby and Barley are related?
Since I know who your breeder is I'll tell you how it worked for us, as far as picking a puppy. They'll send an email a week or so before pickup day with individual pictures and descriptions of their personalities. You can always call and chat about each one to make sure you are matched to the best one for your lifestyle, if you haven't already. For example, Barley's description was "Baby Boy A: Great 'alpha' temperament... first to race to meet me and pet/held. Perhaps the brightest of the boys. This guy ought to be doing your taxes in the first year!" We called and talked about how his personality might mesh with Thor and ended up going with him.

How exciting! We should be getting our puppy in mid-November. It seems like forever from now, but also too soon. Lol.
