    Cone in the crate

I'm thinking this is probably a question with an easy answer - but for some reason I can't figure it out.

Archie is going for his neuter on Saturday and I'm sure he'll need to wear a cone. He's just started being able to be loose in the house while we're at work and he's done great with that for a couple of weeks, but he's very used to being crated while we're gone as well.

So, what do we do with him while at work? Can he wear a cone in the crate? Should I leave him loose in the house with the cone on? Crate with no cone?

sorry if this is a stupid question!

Traditional cone, or "soft cone"? espeically the 1st few days, I'd leave him in the crate with the soft cone on. traditional cones seem really hard for them in crates.

Maxx didn't come home with a cone from his neuter. Luckily he never bothered the surgery site. Sending good thoughts for Archie.

Mocha didn't bother is his stitches so we didn't need a cone.

No cone for Sam but I would not have put him in a crate with a cone on if he had needed one.

No cone for Bandit or Archie and they were good boys and did not bother the stitches. I would suggest a soft cone for in the crate.

Fingers crossed all goes well for Archie. Soft cone in a crate would be what I would do just to keep him safe while I was not there to observe. Jake had to use a cone for a spider bite. He hardly moved with it on, so being a "softee" allowed him without the cone. Yep, took out his stitches. So had to be mean and keep cone on until he was completely healed.

Thanks everyone! I'll keep an eye on him and see if he bothers the stitches. If he does, I'll be heading out for a soft cone. Mmmm, sounds like ice cream
