    Seizure Alert Dog

If you didn't know already, I work for The Certified Canine Services. My bosses went to pick out a puppy to train as a seizure alert dog for a little girl who is 3 years old. Here is an article so you can read about the girl

Well, I get to meet this little pup on Saturday. They have been doing in home training so I haven't been able to. But they are going to have it in the kennel over night. It's name is Pip. (I am not even sure what gender it is) I will take some pictures

This is really exciting, I've seen some documentaries and these dogs can help people with epilepsy, diabetes; they can sniff out tumors... I believe all of them can do it, but some are probably more talented and then there's a communication problem because although they can recognize these changes in the human body, they don't know that we'd like to know it too Seen a doc on their training and it was amazing and really impressive. Can't wait to see some pics of Pip.

That's awesome, what a lucky little girl. We got Luna with the goal of training her to be my psychiatric service dog. It's amazing what dogs can do!

Please PM me if you know of any trainers in the Albany area who are qualified.

    Very cool.

My eldest son has a seizure disorder. He adopted a little Pit mix from our local shelter as a family pet. He was pretty much home bound at the time due to the frequency and severity of his seizures and we all felt a dog would be good for him. Sugar was on the euthanasia list only because she had been there a long time and reportedly had a "flat" personality.

She became a different dog out of the shelter situation and was constantly at our son's side. Then we noticed she would at times be very pushy, trying to get him to sit down. Pushing her head into his legs, whining, and when he would sit, she laid across his legs. Usually within a few minutes, he would seizure. Sugar is now a gray faced, senior citizen who is still intuitive about his seizures but thankfully, better medication has limited his seizures to every few months.

Seizure alert dog can make a life changing difference. For the patient, for the family. It must be so rewarding to train service animals. I envy your opportunity to witness/participate.

This is so amazing. I'm so curious how they train a dog to smell/sense a seizure or blood sugar. Please keep us informed along the way.

Oh my, that poor little girl, ten seizures a day.

This is another puppy? The first one you told us about is a Goldendoodle? So the place you work is training two pups? What good work you do.
