    Lymphnodes swollen in Lab mix

Our 6 year old Lab/Rot mix has swollen lymphnodes in her neck. Obviously concerned, we took her to the vet, who found the nodes in her hind legs also swollen. The vet was concerned and did a cytology. We are waiting the results, which should be back tomorrow.

My biggest fear is that it's lymphoma. Has anyone else had experiences with this? Is it possible that it's a bacterial or viral infection? Or am I just giving myself false hope? As with most of you, your dog isn't just a dog, but a member of the family. The thought of something being seriously wrong with my fur-baby is devastating. I could really use the support right now.

Hi. My Daisy had lymphoma. Were you able to see what the aspirate looked like?

    Daisy Has Lymphoma

It took about 5 days for her results to come back but I felt the idiot vet just did not want to call me.

no sense jumping to any conclusions until you have the results.

no, I didn't see the aspirate. She had to take her to the back for an unrelated blood test.

    Thanks for sharing Daisy's story.

Jeddas lumps are about ping pong sized. She didn't have a fever at the vet either. It's just so sudden, these lumps literally appeared overnight,

I'm sorry, I know how worried you must be. Lymph nodes can swell for all sorts of reasons, so try to stay positive until you know what you're dealing with. My parents' dog died of lymphoma. I was home visiting, staying with my parents, and one morning, I was petting Shane and felt the lumps in his neck. They were hard and felt like golf balls. I told my mom they should have him checked out because that wasn't normal. I don't know if any of his other nodes were found to be enlarged though. You did the right thing getting her to the vet immediately. I hope it turns out to be something easily treatable.

I'm sorry for your worries. My dog before Sam had lymphoma. He was in chemo for 11 months and did really well. In the end he went downhill very quickly because of some complicated issues he had with his blood. The vet surmised the cancer had metastatized to his spleen. If you get the dreaded diagnosis I recommend you meet with an oncologist before deciding what to do. They will give you all of your options including cost so you can best decide what is right for your family. We were never pressured into chemo by the oncologist and she always left all decisions up to us and what we were comfortable with. Fingers crossed this isn't lymphoma.

Fingers crossed. Brady's lymph nodes in his jaw/neck area are ALWAYS fairly large - but given the fact he has allergy issues, my vet and I haven't been concerned.
