    Rattlesnake

Here we go! Just a couple minutes ago Opie and I were headed out to fill the water holding tank from the well, opened the front door and crawling ON MY DOORSTEP was a rattler. Now to be honest, I couldn't tell if it was a mohave or a diamond back but it was definitely a rattler and we do have both here. I was more concerned about shutting the door and getting my camera and pistola. I did, got Opie contained, grabbed my camera, grabbed the pistola, went ripping out the back door around to the front and . . . . . Where the hay did it go? Moved both vehicles, no snake, walked the clearing, no snake, perimeter of the house, no snake. He's now under the house. AH, NO, I'm NOT crawling under there to find it. We shut the back doggy door so chihuahuas can't go out without us checking too. We had an episode where the snake was between the door and the chihuahuas coiled and I had to rescue them.

Sorry, i do have rattlesnake pics but none from today.

Deathly heat and now this. It's scary where you live. Be careful.

Does anybody know that rattlesnakes are pretty docile? They would rather retreat than bite. It's just the stepping on them I try to avoid.

I've heard that most snakes are like that.

However, I get heart attacks when I see a big-ish spider, so...

Our vipers/adders are like that. I remember that when we used to pick mushrooms in the forest, grandpa told me to be careful where I stepped, stomp like crazy and "make a lot of noise" because they only bit in self-defense when they felt they were threatened.

Ah, no offense, but glad we don't have them here. Double whammy for you this week. Rattler under the house, I would not be sleeping.
