OUCH! Not been stung/bit by anything like that. Just looked up a brown recluse spider bite picture to see if that was it; does not appear to be from what you describe.
Hope he heals quickly. If not, you might want to get it seen.
I didn't see what did it but it happened while I was moving chicken feed. Two punctures. A huge area of my arm turned red, got pretty hot for two days and I thought it was done. Now though I have a huge reddish brown spot on my arm. The only thing I found online on discoloration was about jellyfish stings. They say it lasts about 1-2 months. Has anyone had this from a bug bite or sting? What happened? It looks terrible.

I had something very similar to that on the inside of my elbow many years ago....I'd seen a spider on the fence post that my arm was near (petting a dog inside the fence) and always suspected that that's where it came from. I used a mustard poultice on it to bring the swelling/heat down. It was fine after that.

Sorry to hear you got stung - very painful, I'm sure. It sounds like a nasty spider bite - did you take any antihistamines to bring the swelling down? I think it might be best to see what your doctor says - maybe he/she can give you something for it.
Take care!!

I take antihistamines every day this time of year so any allergic response was probably addressed by default. It seems to have healed except for a couple of scabs at the sting sites and this thing that looks like I spilled dye on my arm and couldn't quite wash it off. Or maybe the residual discoloration from a minor burn.
I swear if we try to go to a doctor for one more weird thing, they're just going to lock the door on us.

I'd say see the Dr if the discoloration hasn't gotten better in the last few days. Also if you see there is a distinct line of red coming from it. You can never be to safe.

Could it have been a yellow jacket? Maybe one stung twice - they can do that...
janedoe (07-31-2014)
Very possible. When the contractors were out last year, they said we have an enormous yellowjacket or wasp hive behind the cedar shingles in the other side of the house. As in floor to ceiling or ground to roof. Not great. They'll have to replace all of that in the winter otherwise they'll probably get killed.
Ouch! I work in the yard everyday and I am always worried about being stung or bitten by something. I hope it heals up fast!
