Drop it---Leave it---with a few curse words in between!

Chester is 8 months old and his love for rubber slippers/flip flops continues. This morning he tested our patience by refusing to drop a slipper. The closer we got to him, the more he thought we were playing tag. Drop it, leave it and a few curse words would not let him release it.

After ignoring him for what seemed like an eternity, we realize the slipper was stuck behind his canine teeth so it would not fall out. Eventually he got it out and the slipper was intact without any teeth marks on it.

Interestingly enough he knew he did something wrong and when we told him he needed a time out in another room, he went in willingly and surrendered

At first he was disobedient because he never should have stolen the slipper in the first place. Then he turned it into a game and the slipper got stuck. I suspect many more days of slippers getting stuck

At first you, the adult human being, were negligent because it never should have been left where he could get it in the first place.

LOL, but these things happen and the adult human beings at my house have found that teaching pup to give up the item for a reward works. Then I made him bring it to me for a reward. Yup, and then he began taking things just so he could get the reward. Then I ignored him. When I was sure it was taken to get attention or reward if I was busy I would ignore him, but, caveat here. Huge caveat, he's not a chewer. And you know what? Sometimes he's right, it is time for a little bit of attention, a game or a chase. Still, I make sure to put my slippers or shoes with the $500 orthotics in them out of his reach.

Archie is 6 and I still have to put up shoes. Funny thing is, he's not interested in the shoe, he wants the laces.

Mocha goes for his mommy's house shoes. He is fascinated with the little bows. BIG sock thief!!! We have to check, re check and double check for loose socks laying around.

Tucker is not a shoe puppy. My last lab was a huge flip flop/shoe puppy! Now leave a sock on the floor and Tucker is all over it.
