Got the kiddie pool up for the old guy

    -maxxie-pool-jpg-maxxie-pool-ii-jpg

My Old guy, HRH King Maxx, who just turned 15, finally got his pool. As you can see he loves it.My neighbor went out of her way to do this for the dogs in our building. We are having a heat wave here in Vancouver & he hasn't been doing very well. Not eating much. Doesn't want to walk too far. I am leaving him inside with the fans on most of the day. I am quite concerned about him. I will go tot he Vet this week to make sure he is OK. I welcome any information on old guys & the heat. He is my first dog & I am not always sure what to do.

Can you get an air conditioning unit to put in the window of 1 room, that way he has a place to go cool off if he needs to?

The pool is a great idea! You say you've been having a heat wave, but what are the actual temperatures?

He looks so grand in the pool. Anything you can do to help keep him cool is so important at his age.

It has been 28 - 29 Celsius. That is hot for us little old Canadians.

That is hot, but not that hot that a Lab won't move. On the other hand, I don't know how a 15 year old may feel. If this is the first year he reacts that way to the summer heat, do talk to the vet. In summer, most recommend walking early in the morning or late in the evening when temperatures drop.

I made a Vet appointment for tomorrow. I need some peace of mind. I don't know how old dogs act really. I know they sleep a lot but just not sure if it's just the heat or something else. I am anxious because I don't want to hear any bad news.................but trying to just take things as they present themselves & do the next indicated thing.

My dog would not move at that heat, Dodger hates the hear and he's only 5. Vet check is always a good idea though.
