Took a short trip a few days back

We dropped down to I-10 and out to Benson, then south to Tombstone where Wyatt Earp & bros/ Doc Holiday had the gunfight with the Cowboys near the OK Corral. Then on to Bisbee, AZ where we took a tour where my grandfather once worked 1917-early 20's in an underground mine, "Copper Queen"
and ended up at the old Spanish colonial mission Tumacácori and Tubac, the oldest European settlement in AZ.
I have ancestors who were soldiers there at Tubac and our earliest record known to date is 1754. I am a history/genealogy buff and am intrigued by it all. Here's a few pics from our trip, hope you enjoy them.

Awesome places to visit. Love history when it's personal. My parents both documented their genealogy and it's fascinating. I'm trying to do DH's mother but am having all kinds of problems. I think what has to be done is a visit to the area, Virginia.

I've got ancestors in the 1700's on the east us coast too. 1710 I believe. I want to trip back there but as of this date have never been east of Austin, TX. I've been threatening to venture back to see the civil war battlefields for yrs.

Very very cool. Both the ancestry/history and the place in and of itself.
