Welcome!
Hello all,
Just wanted to say hi and that we have a beautiful Yellow named Sadie. She is 9 months now and a true joy to have, despite some of her puppy like behavior. She was thought to be an outside dog with about 2 acres to roam however we found her preference was to be in and around our family all the time. That said after 5+ months of outside living she has moved in and we are happy to make the transition for her. We have two children, a 5 year old and a 2 year old. For the most part she does well inside however it's hard to control her want to be mouthy with them. Any tips on controlling her mouthyness and other general tips are welcome as we are very open. Regarding any structured training she has had very little, yes I am to blame and accept fault . we are crating her and she does very well in the crate. I'd like to "re-set" and begin some structured, simple obedience training and any recommendations are very welcome.
Thanks for allowing me to introduce us,
Jeff

Hi and welcome to you and Sadie! I would suggest a basic obedience class asap, they are great for a dog and especially their humans! I am so glad Sadie is now an inside dog, Labs love their family and don't do well as outside dogs.

Hello and Welcome!
She sounds like the typical lab, loves being outside but loves her family more. Definitely, basic obedience class. It really sets the stage for so much more.
Labs are mouthy. You need to redirect her with a toy of her own. Also, teach leave it. This should be covered in basic training.

Thanks all, I just hope I am not too late in her development to train GOOD habits!
Hello & welcome
it is never too late. I adopted my lab when he was 18 months and my second dog when she was 8 months.
It is a bit more work because you have to CHANGE habits. You allowed a habit to form and now you want it to change to a different behaviour/habit. A bit more work but TOTALLY doable. you just need to be clear on what you want, set her up to succeed and practice practice practice.

Welcome! I would also recommend getting into a training class for the whole family. I think I learned more than Mocha
welcome!!
Always have a favorite toy in your hand and give to substitute her mouthing your hands. It must be all the time and consistent to work.
Also, puppies love chewing, so again provide something safe for her to chew and also use up some of that puppy energy...eg, a frozen Kong.
