You can find many dog cake recipes online.

    Here's mine from last year:

    Ingredients:

    - polenta (top and bottom)
    - ground beef (raw)
    - zucchini and tomato
    - coconut flour
    - sour cream
    - flax, sesame, sunflower, cinnamon, pumpkin seeds
    - pedigree biscrok biscuits

We made a similar cake this year, with rice this time, some raw meat and veggies.

As for the birthday party, we always invite some of our dog-friends to eat the cake together

You might check around, some bakeries make special doggy cakes and so. Hemi always gets a special bakery made cupcake just for him.

    Happy Birthday Ziva!

I baked Mocha a cake and used some of the batter to make muffins. I have a bone shaped muffin pan for the muffins and I used a small 6" cake pan. I baked the cake for 30 minutes and the muffins for 15 since the pans were smaller than the recipe uses.

Here's the cake recipe I got from Allrecipes.com. To me, it tasted bland. But Mocha and his friend ZuZu loved it!

    Doggie Birthday Cake
    INGREDIENTS:
    1 egg
    1/4 cup peanut butter
    1/4 cup cooking oil
    1 teaspoon vanilla extract
    1/3 cup honey (optional)
    1 cup shredded carrots
1 cup whole wheat or white flour
    1 teaspoon baking soda
    DIRECTIONS:
    1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Grease a 6 cup ring mold.
    2. Combine the egg, peanut butter, oil, vanilla, and honey, if desired, in a large bowl; blend well. Stir in the carrots and mix thoroughly. Sift together the flour and baking soda and fold into the carrot mixture. Spoon cake batter into prepared pan.
    3.
Bake in preheated oven for 40 minutes. Let cake cool in pan for 10 minutes; then turn out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
For the icing, I mixed 4 oz of cream cheese and vanilla yogurt until is was spreadable. Then I streaked through blue food color.

I also make frosty paws because the birthday boy needs cake and ice cream!

    Homemade Frosty paws
    1 qt vanilla yogurt
    1 banana
    2 TBSP peanut butter

Blend all ingredients together. Mixture shouldn't be runny but not milk shake thick either. Spoon into 3-5 oz paper cuts or ice cube trays and freeze. After fully frozen, give as treats.

I put these in the little shot size solo cups with a medium sized dog treat on the top. For "everyday", I put these in ice cube trays with the bone treat sticking out like a popsicle.

Here's pictures of the treats from Mocha's party.

I also got pictures of his first year every month and put them on display. It was so great to see how much he's grown in the first year.
    Mocha's 1st year.

We invited Mocha's friend ZuZu (a 4 yr old boxer) and they played and had lots of fun. We took pictures and sang Happy Birthday. We really didn't have other games or activitites. Watching Mocha and Zuzu was the entertainment!

    Have fun!
