    Dry Skin e_e

Hammer has been itching like crazy and I know it's from swimming in our coi pond almost daily... I am looking for a way to stop the dry skin. He is eating Health Extensions Original, so his diet is good. I need something I could bathe him in or something like that. Any ideas?

Sad to hear that, poor Hammer, it must be a real pain. We're afraid we have no ideas that could help, just wanted to send our good thoughts, so you figure something out and he's fit as a fiddle really soon. M&M

Just wondering if you've read this thread
    Itchy Dog
It's probably a different problem, but there are some ideas that might be useful.

It itchies are tough and so uncomfortable. How about a good water rinse and then plenty of brushing to bring out the natural oils.

I agree, a good rinse after each swim should help. I hope he can get relief soon.

I haven't been rinsing but after being muddy, I do pat him clean. But maybe that makes it worse?

I wonder, why he is itchy. That would be your first step. Is he itchy because his skin is dry like you mentioned? If yes, then I would try adding a fish oil and or virgin coconut oil to his diet. Is it possibly fleas? Is it maybe because his skin isn't fully drying off after swimming? Does he maybe have a funk in his fur from swimming and need to be rinsed each night?

Hopefully you can find the cause, then you'll have an easier time figuring out the cure. Good luck!

Are you sure it's not fleas? Mind you, it's hard to find any; that doesn't mean they are not there.

I am positive it's not fleas. Hammer is treated regularly for flees and has flea and tick shampoo to help that too. We have very little flea breakouts in our town. It's very strange if you ask me. Hammer goes in this pond daily and it has NEVER been cleaned or treated since we put it in about 4-5 years ago. It is also surrounded be tall weeds. Hammer had a homemade oatmeal bath just now. Enjoy the pictures xD
