It is quite likely that she bit her lip while she was chewing on it. I don't feel rawhides anymore, but when I did, my dogs were aggressive with them and chewed them until their gums bled. If she just bit it, it'll be back to normal in the morning.
I let Daisy chew on a rawhide tonight- she got about half way through and started the whining thing she does sometimes. She whines sometimes when chewing rawhides and sometimes other toys. She has since I got her so the behavior is nothing new. I really don't give her rawhides much but it was raining so I did a walk instead of the dog park. After she whined, I took it away and I noticed her lip looked a little swollen on one side. Could that be from chewing? Or is it something else? I tried to take a picture.

This happens to Murphy at times after chewing on antlers and some bones. Heals within a day usually.

If I am sore I generally give it a day or two, then if still sore go to the doc. Using the same logc with my kids and fur kids has served me well.
