    Very lethargic puppy

Maggie (11 months) seemed completely herself yesterday. She woke up this morning seeming quite lethargic. She did not want to take her morning walk (actually laid down in my driveway) and came back into the house an immediately fell asleep. I got her up and fed her, she did eat her breakfast. She immediately passed out on the floor again. This is not at all like her. She was seen at the vet. They did blood work (CBC, electrolytes, liver, kidney values, etc.) they also tested for three tick bite transmissible illnesses including Lyme. All blood work was normal or negative. The also x-rayed her stomach, intestines and uterus. Pyometra does not seem to be present (based on x-Ray, no elevated white blood cells, and her age, but she was in heat two months ago) nor do any foreign bodies. Stomach does not seem to be bloated or distended in any way. She was sent home on Doxycycline and instructions to take her to the emergency vet if she gets worse (vomits, refuses to eat, etc). She has not improved at all since coming home. She just lays around and looks miserable. If she does move it almost seems to be in slow motion. I am really worried about her. Any ideas, or thoughts?

Poor Maggie! Hate that they cannot tell us what is wrong.

Could she have pulled a muscle recently, maybe a little sore. That does not really fit with lethargy. Drat, all I could come up with. Glad she is eating. Is she drinking normal?

Sending prayers. Please keep up updated.

Thank you. I am so worried about her. We were at the vet for three hours with no diagnosis. Poor thing looks so sad.

Here's hoping she just spontaneously gets better. You might never solve the mystery that way but it happens. I hope it happens.

Poor baby...why is she on Doxycyclin? This is usually prescribed for tick-borne diseases.

Prayers for you all. I wish I had advice. We occasionally have mushrooms in our yard, Jax ate one once and was sickly for 2 days then back to normal. Maybe it was something like that. I hope she wakens happy and healthy.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Has she eaten something poisonous or the like, in the garden?

    Why is she on doxcyclin?

Sending lots of good thoughts for a speedy recovery.
