Female Lab seems tired all the time

    Hi,

I have a female Lab that turned 3 yrs old in February and over the last week, she seems very tired and lazy.
We went to the cottage last week and and she was exhausted when we got home from playing and swimming.
I cant decide if she is not feeling well or if she is still tired from the weekend but it has been almost a week. It is Spring here so it was her first big
    weekend in a while.

She is eating, peeing, etc like normal but just isnt herself.

I dont think she has been into anything but you never know, I suppose.

Doesnt seem like she should still be this tired and starting to think I should take her to the vet.

Anyone have any advice or thoughts on this?

    Thanks!

I would have my dog looked at by a vet if that were my dog (but that's just me). Unless you think it's heat related but a dramatic change in energy could be a sign of a health issue or maybe she is sore/in pain (labs are stoic so she may not be showing it in any other way).

    Could it be seasonal allergies?

I had a pet pup in a home (around 4 years old or so) that was just lazy and lethargic and he tested positive for lyme. I would do a 4 way snap to check for any tick borne diseases to be on the safe side.

Hoping its just the weather change. But if it keeps up I would test. The sooner you catch tick borne the easier they are to treat.

Thanks for the suggestions. We are on the east coast of Canada so it is Spring and allergies could be an issue. It's warming up but not too hot yet. I think I will take her to the vet this week.

She has Revolution for ticks and we check her twice daily but you never know.
Just not herself and the energy level has definitely changed.

At her age, one maybe two days of rest after a busy weekend is all she should need. I would take her in to the vet personally

Also and this is just my opinion, if she isnt used to all that exercise, try to control it. Over exercising on occasion is not good, injury and overexertion can happen real quick

I would second this advice and that is what it sounds like you are doing. Best of luck, hopefully something minor.

And yes, welcome to the board. As you can see there are all kinds of good, concerned people here. Look around, lots to see and do.

I don't deny that she over did it. Its hard with so many family there and someone wants to play with her all the time. In addition to a long cold winter and the excitement of a change of scenery. There is no down time at the cottage nd I sound like a crazy person when I am putting her on her mat for time outs so that she has a rest. I realize its what needs to happen though.

We just had a little play outside and I am watching her closely to ensure she is drinking and resting. I will be taking her to the vet this week for a check up.

    Thanks for the warm welcome!
