That sounds very disturbing. I will never understand why some people get dogs.
So this one guy comes into the dog park with his two labs, both craigslist finds, he often brags about their great hunting lines, original price, etc.
everybody groans when he comes in (with his 6 yr old son) bc everyone has had bad experiences with him. His son always walks around and talks to me instead of going near his father. I have told him not to touch my dog multiple times as he tries to tank his toys out of her mouth( he won't share toys he brings). He's some sort of body builder and one funny dog park regular said he looks like Putin--
So today was worse than usual because he got violent with his dog- he had his dog, Jeter, pinned to the ground and looked like he was going to punch him. Somehow the dog got away and was running away from him. I don't know if his dog "bit" him or what but this dude has no business owning dogs. Jeter is a field lab and very prey driven and probably accidentally but the guy. Everyone was staring and shocked. He left right after that. I'm just disturbed by the incident.

This is why I just do not go to dog parks.
I can't go to.parks either. Sometimes I can't even walk down my street because I see things I don't agree with.
Lol, so do I!
Funnily I saw a very similar thing from a vet I went to when my lab was about 3months old. Like any lab puppy at this age they are super cute and super excited to meet new people and are rolling balls of fun. I walked into the vet's room and the vet immediately grabbed my lab and pushed her to the ground and told me I must teach her that I was the boss. I couldn't say anything because I was so surprised and it looked like he was wrestling a beast from the wild forest!! Once he finished wrestling her I told him I usually hold her and tell her to sit and that it works every time.
Dominance theory lasted a long time and may take a few more years to totally annihilate it.
I avoid dog parks partly because many might think I am the jerk.
Scarlett had a rough past and still thinks she must protect me from everyone and anything. So when lots of dogs start crowding around me or my older son her back starts to look like a mohawk 3 inches wide from her butt to her neck. It scares the poop out of some people so I keep her away from crowds.
We can be in a open field, have one or two dogs run up to us and she is fine. Go figure.

This is exactly why I just don't go to dog parks. You just never know who your going to come across. After breaking up 2 dog fights this year at the park because no one knew what to do...I just don't think it's worth it.
I'm curious how he got Jeeter to come to him??
We gave up going to the dog park because Sunshine stopped having an interest in other dogs. They would just steal anything she was retrieving from her and run away with it, for the chase me game. She didn't have fun there anymore.
all the dog parks in the city I live in have 311 service(like 911 but for dogs) and the response time is quite quick(about 10 minutes). I hate the fact that I live in a city with a leash law and the only way outside of my yard for chili to get exercise is the dog park. but since chili is intact, I am breaking the law taking him to the park...so basically only option is to drive 45 minutes outside the city. so my point is that dog parks may be an only practical option to exercise/socialize your dog.

311 service?? o.m. g. Solves a lot of these problems. I wish we had it here. I see crap in the park & I cant help but think someday I'm gonna have to find a new place to go-one where there's not many other ppl. It makes me so sad. 2 days ago I see this teenage girl walking a dog wearing that kind of leash that goes across her nose-I forget the name, was gonna try it on Dakota actually. Well apparently this thing goes around her neck also which I didn't know they were like that... because the dog was still pulling & you know the sound they make when they pull against a collar, hacking kind of sound. I was like omg. Saw it again yesterday it was worse. I said out loud oh my goodness...someone nearby said "what??" I said oh that poor dog is choking himself! She looks on horrified like me...keeps walking her dog shaking her head...a lady behind the teenager says " no he's not choking, were not hurting him" I'm thinking well in all my years of knowing dogs, I know that sound. Like idiot-don't tell me that nonsense he's not hurting himself! I was livid.
