Meet WindyCanyon's Kanzi RN. She turned 6 mos old on 9/20/14, and was entered in her first Rally trial on 9/26 under one of the toughest judges in the NW (gulp...). I was so proud of the little squirt (she is very slow to grow so only 45# and ~19" tall right now!) as she got a 98 for that run!!! Her 2nd Q was a 94, and last one was 89. She came home w/ 2nd, 3rd and 4th placements and of course, met a lot of new friends over the weekend while she was on the grounds. I really couldn't have expected more from her.
I would not have normally put a pup her age in the ring, but she was just born focused (and pretty darned calm to boot). I also don't know when I'll be able to compete again since I'm planning a spring litter or 2, so wanted to punch out the RN now. The carrot dangling in front of me for next June's local trials will have the letters RA and CD carved in them.... along w/ hopeful JH tests.
Anyhow, it was funny. I had her half Aunt Tango entered in Open A as well. I wasn't nervous at all about Tango (she keeps me laughing as I tell folks she has the "blonde gene" at times).... but sure couldn't say the same for Kanzi! And no, Tango didn't Q either trial she ran in but we had a good time anyhow! She nailed her Broad Jump both days-- and that has been her nemesis, so I'm hoping we're finally past that. Anne

CONGRATULATIONS!
Kanzi sure did you proud for just being a pup. Tango will get it all together soon.

Congratulations Kanzi and you. Bet you wowed them and bet you heard lots of cooing and awing over her.
Congratulations! Good job!
Congrats! It has to be a proud moment with so much potential for the future.
Thanks everyone. I think the biggest downfall of the weekend was WE WERE EXHAUSTED! The show site is 95 miles each way, so we drove nearly 600 miles in the 3 days plus I had to come home to do my work until 9-10 pm every night. Monday was pretty much a wasted work day and last night we started a new Rally class. I could tell the squirt was still a little tired, but after being "measured" (this class intros jumps, though they will be kept low for Kanzi regardless), it looks like she had grown a 1/2" this past week on top of it all! So she had another reason to be sleepy! Anne
PS "Happy National Black Dog Day" everyone!

Congrats, that is awesome!
I hear you on the focussed part, I have one like that and started everything early, but I am not holding up huge hopes that I will ever have such in intensely focussed one next go around, a year and a bit to go and counting. Are you doing Lab Nationals this year? I still have never attended. Definitely going next year as the drive will only be 8 1/2 hours.
Woo Hoo, excellent weekend, esp. with all that driving, and a really big introductory weekend for the little one! sure bet she got lots of attention!
