Saw that yesterday when her facebook page posted this:

It's a great loss to the veterinary community, and the dog training community.

A lovely tribute to her from the Chicago SunTimes:

    Dr. Sophia Yins Pet World

She described, in this interview, the exact way you should be a leader with your dog. None of that alpha leader stuff, but this:

"Sophia learned that every pet needs a human who can lead. Not like a boss, but like a partner in a dance—someone who gives clear signals, rewards desirable behavior as it occurs, removes rewards for inappropriate behavior immediately, and sticks to the plan consistently until the new, good behavior is a habit."

The perfect description. Lead like in a dance.

Whatever demons she had in her life, she still did wonderful work with animal behaviorism, training, and low stress handling techniques for vets, groomers, etc.

    Her obituary:
Obituary: Dr. Sophia Yin, 48, renowned pioneer in humane training for pets - Obituaries - The Sacramento Bee

Very sad. I had just received an email from a local dog training facility saying how excited they were to have her coming to do a seminar in the spring. Awful.
