    Nexguard

On impulse, I bought it at the vet. I thought 'great' something that the dog can eat instead have a chemical on their skin. Now, I am rather hesitant to give it to my labs. Has anyone given this to their dogs yet?

Some of the other forums (not this site) have such confusing information.

I have no experience but saw a commercial for it on tv for the first time a few weeks ago. My big question about it is it says it protects against the American dog tick. Does that mean it doesn't work on other types of ticks like deer ticks? I hate the topicals too but I would like to read about more real life experiences about Nexgard before using it.

It was a very impulsive buy on my part. Usually, I scan reviews and research before buying something.

This weeK the FDA approved it for deer ticks and Lone Star ticks too. Merial Announces New Claims for NexGard™ (afoxolaner): Now Approved to Kill Two... -- DULUTH, Ga., May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Seems like a great product, but I'm still a little hesitant.

Yeah when I talked to my friend, my concern was it only killing one kind of tick. She said the FDA had to do more testing before officially claiming it could kill other kinds of ticks, but yes it should

I saw this too. I'm kind of leery of it only because its so new. I think I'll wait a while before I try it.

I am hearing nothing but good things at the vet and online but I am not so quick to believe this is a good product for my 3 year old. 2 weeks after giving it to him he developed hot spots on his neck. Then sores on his bum, and tail and now hives on his stomach. I have given it to him for about 6 weeks and the skin conditions continue to morph. I am taking him off of it and will see if his conditions improve. Nexgard is made by Frontline. Frontline gave him allergic reaction so I am not so trusting. He has never had skin issues prior to this.

I heard it protects against ticks but not fleas?
