    Sam's drunk

I don't know when or how he did it, but last night I realized Sam had a deep cut on the inner thigh. I cleaned it up and put antibiotic ointment on it and then put a cone on his head to stop him from licking it.

It's not a serious wound but it was a gaping hole and in that location, it would be pulled and opened with normal walking. So in to the vet first thing this morning for Sam. I felt so bad when I left him, he was in a panic at being taken away from me. Picked him up this afternoon and he was still a little drunk. I should have taken a photo of his expression. He had the saggiest eyes imaginable. He is more normal now, we're just waiting a little bit longer before he gets his dinner.

Six stitches and he should be good as new in ten days. No more gaping hole. He has to heal up in time for our camping trip. And no romp in the woods for him this weekend.

Here is Sam this morning. He was glued to me. He didn't understand the cone on his head.

And here is Sam's drunk face when he came home from the vet.

Yeah. He's sleeping it off now. He was livelier before I paid a fortune to fix him.

Poor baby, all go moms take "drunken" pics. We have some of our son but when Jax was neutered he Came out quickly, so much so the vet called to say we could pick him up early.

From your weekend pictures, it looks like he had fun doing it. Hope he heals fast for the next trip.

I would think he did it on the weekend hike. But then I feel bad that it took me so long to notice. Of course, it's not in a visible spot and he didn't give anything away until he started licking it. He's sleeping it off now. Probably part of it is stress. He was in a panic when I left him. He really doesn't do well being separated from me by other people.
