    Unhappy Cookie is sick again

This morning, he was fine. Got home after running some errands in town and he appeared sleepy. When we arrived home from our evening walk, he refused to eat.

Saturday evening, thankfully the vet was willing to go back to his office and admit us. Cookie had a fever, he is anemic, his platelet levels dropped. Blood smear came back positive for babesiosis.

I can't believe it. Please wake me up, I must be dreaming. No it's not a dream, it's a nightmare.

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”
