I just joined the site today and I'm looking forward to absorbing as much information as possible about labs. My wife and I have a 2 year old chocolate lab (Abby) and a 1 year old golden retriever (Molli). Abby has severe arthritis, so if anybody has any recommendations that might be helpful, please let me know.

Hello and welcome! Really sorry to hear about Abby's problem. Arthritis at two years of age and severe? That's an awfully early onset. We had the same problem with Lynn, but she was 13 then; she was on NSAIDs for over a year, but I'm afraid that all drugs for arthritis have side effects whether it's NSAIDs or steroids, and keeping your pup on these for a number of years might be pretty risky. Hopefully there's somebody who's been through a similar ordeal and has a better idea.

    Welcome!

I have no experience with arthritis. Most likely others will chime in.

Thank you everybody for the warm wishes. We have received some good advice that should help Abby improve, so hopefully some of it will help.
