Trying to get Benelli used to his crate, all night I've thrown treats in let him go in come back out he's fine in his crate when he can see me but when I'm out of view he goes nuts. I got a slight pause to let him out. I put him to bed and letting him cry it out but he has a loud bark lol. I can't fit the big crate in my room or I would bring him in with us and he isn't housebroken so I can't even not crate him. Anyone with a rescue older that can offer pointers. I know he will get it, it's only his first night. I did feed him in his crate too.

So I normally don't do this but to save my sanity I went out just gave an "ah ah" walked out of sight waited a second then praised for being quiet took about 6 times and he's been quiet for about 10 mins now and I'm back in bed. Fingers crossed!!
I guess I am too much of an old softie. I would get out a pillow and a sleeping bag and camp out by the crate for a few days, to see how that went. You didn't mention what his previous life was or what Benelli went through, but remember, like a little pup, this all new to him! He might think he is going to be in there for weeks at a time, or not fed for days..... I'd cut him some slack until he had a bit of trust in me.
I would be camping too! Benelli has to be overwhelmed and there is nothing wrong with trying to make sure he feels secure until things calm down and he really begins to feel comfortable and knows he is home.

I'm a softy to pretty much everything except for that. I don't want to end up like that other person who posted where her husband sleeps on the couch bc thier puppy barks it's head off and is only quiet when he sleeps downstairs with the dog.
I put a radio on for him so he has some noise and my two dogs are also crated in the same room with him.
It did work he was quiet foe 2 and a half hours I heard him bark once got up took him out pUT him back in he let out one bark I just said ah ah and he's been quiet since.
Not as bad as I though he woke me up around 1245 I didn't say anything I just leashed him and took him out he peed and pooped then I brought him back in tossed a treat into his kennel and closed the door he barked once then all was quiet til 7am!!!!!

I love your attitude - patience, gentle "ah ah", and consistency will get you SO far with this boy.

I'm stuborn so I have the patience of a mule lol. My husband after a few mins is like oh this isn't going to be good. I'm like calm down hes in a new place , he doesn't know us or his surroundings hes prob never been kenneled before except at the shelter. He will get it. The barking has gotten less and less. Today I've been working on leaving and coming back in when hes quiet and treating him in his kennel. I walked out the front door then right back in treated for quiet. If he was barking I waited for a pause to come back in and reward. I also don't look or say anything just ramdomly drop treats in when hes calm and quiet in his crate. Lacie and him are in quiet time just to give me and them a break because Gauge and him are non stop so they just need some down time. I'm basically treating him like a 8 week old puppy and NILF Is in place.
I do have a question whenGauge and him are running in the yard and they are super excited they try and hump each other Gauge knows the off command which I used when he would do this to friends dogs I would watch and he stops. I don't allow it and everytime Benelli does it I give the ah ah correction and pull him off saying off and rewarding. Any tips on that?
We were lucky, all of ours were comfortable with a crate. Not a peep from day one. You're doing the right thing and seeing success very fast. Benelli will learn.
Yep, keep up the corrections on the humping, every time. You can even teach leave it, have Benelli come to you and treat.
