Uhhhgg that stinks!!! No fun...
Dishwasher going, doing a few dishes in the sink and hear a dull pop. Hum. Finished dishes, let the water out the same time the dishwasher is pumping out, look down and there's water everywhere. The pipe that connects the two sinks let go.
So much crap gets stuffed under the sink. Had to haul it all out, dry it off and stack it on the counter. Mop up the floor and the cabinet. One thing I had done when we installed the cabinets, placed some leftover peel and stick tiles in the bottom of the cabinet so there was a mini swimming pool. Better than soaking the cabinet.
Of course, DH is snoozing away cause he has to go to work tonight. He's going to be a busy man in the morning!
For now, a large bucket under the sink pipe cause I know I'll forget and turn the water on.
Uhhhgg that stinks!!! No fun...
That happened to us years ago. Such a mess.
nooooooooooooooooo
ah rats, in your nice new kitchen! Hey, at least you caught it right away, and it didn't spread far!
funny (ok, not so funny when it happened) story - Dad finished the basement, and put a drain pipe up from the downstairs kitchen sump pit (takes the sink and dishwasher water as well as the foundation drainage), across the wall, tied into the drain stack from the 2 bathrooms on the main floor to go out to the septic bed. This all buried behind bulkheads and drop ceiling. About 2-3 years later, one of the girls living downstairs came down the hallway into the dining/living area, and noticed a waterfall out of the bulkhead. She called all in a panic, I fortunately was in town, so rushed home to find evidence of water, but no water currently....hmm weird... where'd it come from? called a friend to come over and help try and find the source. Shortly afterwards, heard the sump pump start up, and then the waterfall started. After tearing the drywall off the bulkhead in the main area, it quickly became apparent where the water was coming from... Dad had forgotten to glue one of the joints together in the drain line, and it had taken that many years for it to work its way apart. What a mess. And of course, stinky sump water from the house footings drains. yuk. About 4 months later, one of the girls called to say water coming up from floor drain in laundry room. yikes, race home to find the OTHER sump pit (this one connected to the laundry plus main floor powder room plus downstairs bathroom) was overflowing back up the basement drains. Sump pump dead. Thank heavens the girl had been doing laundry, whites and had been bleaching them, nice clean bleach water. Replaced the sump pump, mopped up and set up fans, all good. Believe it or not, in another 2 months, the line for the distilled water for the sink and the icemaker let go, once again, a frantic phone call, and a search for the culprit... grrr. We called it "the Year of the Floods". 2 years later, another flood, this one resulted in having to replace all the flooring downstairs, along with some drywall, trim, repainting. That was an insurance job, but what a hassle! I am soooo done with floods!
