I can't believe that it was a year ago that I got an email from my breeder that the litter I had been waiting for was born. There was only one male, and he was ours if we wanted him. They shared photos of the litter as they grew, and it was extra special because we knew exactly which pup would be ours. We heard stories of his sisters picking on him, that he was the mellow one. The breeder's kids nicknamed him Polar Bear since he was big and fluffy and white. That was all confirmed on the day we picked him up - the girls were chasing him around and pulling on his collar, but he was far more interested in pets and cuddles from the humans.
I've never raised a lab puppy before, and with my tendency to obsessively research and plan everything I found my way to this board. It helped me understand how to find a breeder, how to prepare for my pup, and got me through some of the tougher phases of puppyhood. Thank you!
Today we took an extra long walkies and I didn't even make him heel. He got to sniff and wander and pee on everything. Then he got his birthday cake - a stack of his favorite treats frosted with peanut butter. We played with a new toy, and now we'll end the evening with lots of cuddles.
