    Other than AKC...

Besides AKC, which other organizations do you compete under and why (i.e., UKC)? For conformation, obedience, rally, field, etc. Thanks!

We are planning on competing in field tests with NAHRA, through our local Lab club.

Last year, we competed in Dock Diving through Dock Dogs USA. Loved it, and we will be competing again this summer to try to make it to finals in the Senior Division!

When Oban was competing in rally we did CKC and CARO. For any Canadians CARO seems to have a much wider range of things to do. We only did CKC obedience.

I have yet to actually compete in Agility, but I know my trainer recommends starting out in CPE before moving on to AKC. I used to do dock dogs, Cabo has his senior title in that. And Tux and I compete in Barn Hunt, the titles are AKC recognized but it is through the Barn Hunt Association. He has his Novice title and needs one more leg for his Open title.

    Hunt tests-AKC/UKC. Field trials- AKC.

Obedience-AKC, although I'll probably bring my young dog out in UKC or CDSP for exposure. And hopefully my "older" boy (5 years) fully recovers to enjoy semi retirement in UKC and CDSP.

Agility- AKC, but my young dog might get to me into USDAA.

My main game will probably always be AKC, but there are just so many great organizations out there now!

I do AKC for the performance events though may try some HRC (UKC) this coming year w/ one or 2. I've also used IABCA for conformation evaluations primarily since they give written evaluations and discuss things w/ you. The judges I've shown under are either AKC or canadian KC judges, oftentimes not yet licensed for Labs, but I've found for the most part, they have read/studied the standard and are genuinely interested in understanding the conformation needs for the breed.
