Brought Chloe out in Utility this weekend

She didn't qualify either day, but I definitely saw some things to be proud of and some things that needed work, some on my part and some on hers, LOL. The first day she picked up on my nervousness and was very stressed in the ring, but the second day, we were both much calmer and happier, so that was good. We didn't train much all through December, which I think contributed to the NQ's, but this at least gave me a good idea what things we need to work on with her.

Awesome! Can't wait to hear about her progress, I'm sure she'll get it all together soon. Any video or pictures from the trial?

No pics or video - that I know of, anway . She's to the point where she understands the exercises, but little things can cause her to make a mistake due to lack of confidence (for example, I was nervous and gave a weak "take it" on gloves the first day - she flinched but didn't go out after it - the next day I gave a stronger command and she went right out to get it because that time she was sure what she was supposed to be doing). I think once she gets used to the show environment she will be much better.

The funny thing that we do need to work on she apparently has a bugaboo about chairs in her ring. She is reluctant to jump if there is a chair on the other side of the jump (gives it the hairy eyeball the whole time) and on Sunday was distracted on articles because the way the ring was set up we had to scent the article right near the chair (and almost up against the ring gates which were against a blank wall). She was very anxious about being "trapped" near the evil chair - was staring at it suspiciously the whole time I was scenting the article and did a half-hearted job of searching the pile because her mind was still on the chair. She gave up early and brought back a wrong article, knowing it was wrong but wanting to return to me. The second article though she was determined to redeem herself and did a GREAT job on, so I was pleased with the way she rebounded, but there will be lots of chairs in her future classes, LOL. You just never know what will be an issue for them!

Do you believe I actually found a clip art of an evil chair? Who'd a thunk? Obviously Chloe knows something we don't.

    LOL, better luck next time.

ETA: And it doesn't show up, phooey. Well I did, just goes to show you how sneaky those chairs can be.

The shadow must be what Chloe sees, the evil shadow. It's a bit concerning just how many evil chair images you can google up with image search.

Of all things, a chair. Glad that both of you had fun, what a great learning experience.

Looking forward to reports of future events.
