Does anyone do this?
I wanted to try smoking so two years ago we bought an inexpensive smoker at Canadian Tire.
Since then I've done quite a few things. Beef brisket of course (it helps to have a great butcher in town), steaks, pork chops, hamburgers. I did a whole turkey for Thanksgiving 2013, it barely fit. Have also done some sides like potatoes (better than it sounds and a great start on potato salad) and jalapeno poppers. I've also hot smoked cheddar and mozzarella. Mmmmmm.
Now we are thinking of going to the next level. Lowes has a Weber Smokey Mountain smoker priced at $359, less 15%.
It's a low, slow cooking technique so I have to be prepared to not get too far away.

Our friends from MS have one and they love it. We're getting the Weber Smoking Mountain, but I can't make smoked brisket because it's sacrilegious to my people (Hannukah Jewish-style sweet and tangy brisket all the way).

Have never tried. Sounds yummy.

I've had a charcoal smoker in the past, but found that to be too labor intensive. Now, I just have a cheapo Brinkmann electric smoker. I LOVE it! I smoke pork shoulders, ribs, brisket, and chicken.
We take the smoker with us when we go camping in the summer. It really kicks up the quality of the camping food a notch.

We have a double grill. One side is gas from burgers& brats, the other side is charcoal for smoking. I've done pork shoulder, tender loin, chops and we love it. It is very time consuming but the end results are worth the wait IMHO.

We use our smoker all the time year round.

This is the smoker we have. We have had it for 5 years now and it is the best thing we have bought. LOVE it. We do jalapeno poppers, whole chicken, pork butt, pork shoulder, ribs, chicken wings, turkey, etc. We did beef brisket when we lived in OK, can't find it for a decent price in TN which is such a bummer.

We have the Master built too but the 30" Digital Electric. I've never been able to do charcoal anything.
Pork butt, pork shoulder, ribs, chicken are our main items.

My husband just upgraded to this smoker Bad Request
Traeger does make the best smokers, definitely worth the investment. We had a smaller one for years.
We smoked a few turkey breasts for the holidays, I normally dislike turkey but smoked is so yummy
Not sure why the link says bad request, it does direct you to the correct smoker

I did before but not lately, we used a cheap one and always used mesquite wood and let it cook for hrs. I remember we soaked the wood too. I may see if I can find that and try bison meat.
