Trying to give me a heartattack

Apparently Benelli likes socks last night he got a pair and when I went to get it off of him he tried to gulp it down. Thank god my husband got him and I had to reach my hand in the back of his throat to get it.

He did the same today. I was wondering where he was picking them up from turns out he was standing on my dresser and getting them. I have to put the dirty socks up there BC my sheltie will get them out of the hamper. Now have to find another hiding place.

We keep all bedroom & bath doors closed to prevent laundry & trash raids.

Yeah, we've been through surgery for a sock obstruction before. I read about dogs who "pass" all the socks they eat, but I don't want to test that ever again! Glad you got hold of it before it went down!

    Scary is right!

Wonder if getting a large trash can, like Simple Human with the suction like top, would help. Sure wouldn't be a design statement but would keep sneaky pups safe. Plus the liner inside would make it easy to carry the clothes to the washer.

I hear ya! We've had a few scares recently...in the basement where she got a hold of a few carpet staples sitting out (hubby freaked right out over that one - I wasn't home)...another time we heard her chewing on something and it was a piece of plastic from a box cutter and we couldn't find the rest of it (he freaked out over that one, too)...goose and rabbit poop go straight down the gullet but non-organic things like plastic, metal, wood, socks, toy stuffing, etc. just seems to be chewed and rolled around in her mouth until we clue in and retrieve it. Funny - we're retrieving stuff from her.

Door closed, end of problem. If he sleeps in the bedroom then a closet door.

You can start working on labeling the laundry basket a "No No NO" item, but until that sinks in, keep it out of his reach.
