Refuses to go outside - too much snow

Any tips on what to do when this happens and you have to go to work.

I go outside with them. It stinks but I find dogs are much more likely to go out with you.

If that doesnt' work - i'm at a lost, i haven't had any major issues with this My dogs love snow/cold. My last foster Misty wasn't a fan but if we were all outside she came out without much issue, did her thign and ran back to the door.

Get the shovel and make a path...we have no choice but to go out with her, as the entrance to our backyard is at the side of the house. Crappy, but it keeps us in check, too. Sophie loves the snow.

LOL Mine love the snow, they fall over each other to be the first out. If they don't go, guess they have to hold it all day while you are at work.

I have no idea what it's like to have a dog who won't go out in the snow but if I did, the collar on drag him out method would likely work. That's what I have to do to get them back inside from the snow and cold sometimes.

Might help if you go outside and play with him. If you look like it's fun then maybe he'll think he's missing out on something really good. This could backfire and then you'll be like me, have to drag him inside, he'll want to stay out.

The past week or so, Mulder has been refusing to go out, and we have had to do the collar drag to get him out of the house.

When we did, he would pee on our driveway and goes back in. If we tried to get him to go further he would just lay down and refuse to move. We finally figured out he had a nasty scrape on one of his pads, and didn't want to walk on hard (pavement) or cold surfaces with it. A little neosporin and a bootie helped quite a bit, but he still won't go on his usual long walks because he doesn't like walking on the pavement and the snow is just deep enough to make it difficult for him. He was fine in the middle of a snowstorm when there was about an inch on thse sidewalks - enough to pad the pavement but not enough to have to slog through, but then people cleared their sidewalks so he doesn't like it any more. At least now he'll go out the front door and around to the back door to stretch his legs a little.

My problem is getting Luna back inside from the snow. I'd just go outside too.

Daisy loves romping in the snow but it's more difficult to get her to potty in 14" of snow. Yesterday I shoveled a little path in the yard so she could potty on that.
Also don't have a fenced in yard so I always go out with her.

Scout wanted to head out this morning! but pottying was interesting, he kept getting this weird look on his face "why is my butt IN the snow, I gotta go!"

My old boys, neighbour used to bring his snowblower thru the gate between our yards and make some paths for them, Scout I just make sure i've got a fairly cleared area at the bottom of the deck if he doesn't want to go off into the deep stuff.

Its hard to get the shoveling done when your dog is bouncing thru it, then bugging you to walk out the back with him!
