I fed my puppy Purina Pro Plan Focus for Large Breed Puppies. He loved it and did really well on it. I can't help with Pure Balance Salmon and Pea Grain Free as I have never heard of it but I don't know why you couldn't feed it to your lab puppy.
I have a 7 week old puppy that I got yesterday. The breeder had him on Puppy Chow so I stopped and bought a bag as I don't want to shock his system at the same time as I troducing him to a new home. I do plan on switching him very slowly in the next week to a better food. I have a 2 year old pit bull/bully mix and she eats Pure Balance Salmon and Pea Grain Free. I was wondering if it would be okay to switch him to that being a puppy. I have always had bull dogs/pit bulls. This baby is my first lab and first AKC registered dog.

Don't allow your happiness to be interrupted by overly judgmental people. The problem is not you, because even if you do good all the time, they would still find a way to judge you wrongly.

Keep him on the puppy chow at least 4 weeks. A new home is very stressful for a young pup and you don't want to add more stress with a food change. If you insist on changing the food, try something that will be easier to transition to. I personally feed all pups Proplan. Its highly recommended for lab pups as well
As far as the food mentioned, no I don't not think its appropriate for a lab puppy at all. Its not a puppy food and I don't believe its an ALS food either. I also would not feed a grain free or salmon based food to a pup under a year old
I would stay on the breeder's food as well.

You can probably move to Pro Plan Puppy very easily. But I would leave him on that until he's done growing.

I would not take your puppy off of a puppy formula. It is important that he stays on a puppy formula for proper growth and nutrition.
Many Lab pups do nicely on Pro Plan Puppy (the formula without the shreds)
Natural Balance grain free Salmon is not appropriate for a growing puppy.
Thank you all for the advice. I wasn't sure about changing him to her food, even though it is an all life stage food, that is why I asked and I am glad I did. I will probably go get him the pro plan as soon as the puppy chow starts getting low. I buy the pure balance at WalMart and I don't think I have ever seen pro plan there. I will look at the pet store next time I go. I guess I should get the large breed puppy.
