After much time and effort . . .

two broken snow shovels, one repaired snow thrower and two exhausted people, I'm happy to report that we can see the other side of our driveway from our front door. Hopefully now when it warms up, only half of our basement will flood.

You all have been hit so hard, storm after storm. We had 24+ inches a while back that slowed things down for a day or two, but only minor amounts since then. Right now it horrid cold. Today's high will probably not get above 0 even with bright sun shine. Tonight real temp is said to be -8. Broke records yesterday and today for low highs, and lower lows.

That's one heck of a job. Time for a nice long soaking hot bath.

We have French drains all around the basement and 2 sump pumps with 2 backup car batteries each in case the power goes out. No generator, but we're pretty close to the action. My neighbor sued the town a few years ago because we don't have a sewer drain on the street. Then again, I'm in upstate NY so 5 feet in the yard by now is pretty normal. You guys got walloped!

Fingers crossed for all of us to have a nice, slow thaw this year!

Holy cow! Stay warm. We're getting single digits below zero at night but the days are in the 20's so we're mobile. If it was that cold during the day, I'd just hole up and leave the meltage to fate.

Definitely a vote from us on the slow thaw. For a minute there, they were saying two days in a row next week at 40 degrees and I thought I was going to have heart failure.

Wow, what a job. All you need now is for the snow plow to come by and block the end of the drive way.

If I still lived in the Northeast I would definately hire someone to plow my driveway if it got too deep. I remember growing up my dad bought an old Farm tractor with a plow on the front to clear all the driveways in the neighborhood. It was a necessity for country living where it snows alot. I feel for you doing it by hand is my point. keeps ya healthy tho

Wow good work. I am sure you are both wiped out. Your next trick should be to train the dogs to shovel
