    Do dogs have nightmares?????

At 2:45 AM this morning I awoke to what I can only describe as a blood curdling scream from Bruce. I immediately turned on the light and he was laying there head slightly raised, glass eyed looking very confused and disoriented. I opened the kennel door and it still took about 10 or 15 seconds for him to realize what was going on. I called him out of the kennel and noticed he had urinated a small amount right where he was laying. I took him outside, he pee'd and poo'd, back in the house into the kennel. He settled right down and went back to sleep. Me, I laid there awake most of the night listing to every sound he made. Needless to say it scared the living crap out of me.

He's his normal happy self this morning, so I just have to wonder if he had some kind of nightmare. Never experienced anything remotely like this 30 years of having Labs............

Sophie regularly runs in her sleep (laying on her side, legs bending and twitching). On occasion she'll have a vocal dream, like last night, where she made a few whimpering sounds. There was another time where they were full-on yelps and we rushed over to her crate and let her out to cuddle her for a bit. Dreams, for sure, yep.

Both Mardi and Archie have dreams moving and making soft woofs.

This sounds like a seizure especially with the urination.

chili has dreams almost everyday, sometimes i watch him have these dreams and have seen him with his eyes open but glassed over baking and moving his legs. no urination tho. some of his dreams have been very vocal, others mild. always thought it was normal, but I dont really know.

Chloe whimpers in her sleep sometimes, sounding very distressed, but what you describe does sound like a seizure as well. Mulder has them on occasion and for the most part they are over very quickly, but the loss of bladder control is the key sign with him as to what happened.

Zoey is an very active sleeper especially after a long day, lots of wimpers, woofs and movement but never any screams or urination. What you described sounds like my pom when she has a seizure, shes had a few nocturnal ones

Maybe run him in for some bloodwork and a check up for your own peace of mind although sometimes no cause or abnormalities are found after a seizure

Yeah, I'm actually pretty worried it was a seizure too. I had a yellow girl a long time ago who had them, turned out to be a brain tumor. I'll put a call in to the vet and see what he thinks.......
