What are your favorite vegetables for container gardening?

I started plants early and am looking at using containers. Looked online and found some advice but I'm curious about personal experience. One of the great things about this long winter is that the gardening centers at various stores haven't opened so whatever they still have in stock is still on clearance. I was very excited to find ten of these at $3 a pop.

My peas are doing great in one and I'm going to do an herb garden in another. Do you think that lettuce would do well? Cabbage? I've started beets, swiss chard and broccoli but I don't know that they would do well in containers. Thoughts?

I do a lot of container planting so I can keep them safe from Molly. If you going to plant cabbage do one plant per container as well as broccoli.I have grown beens , peppers, tomatoes all in pots with lots of sucess.

I did mixed salad greens in a few pots last year and that was fun. I also put herbs in several but I have herbs in the ground too. Basil and Rosemary both did well in containers. Cilantro did not. I think it was too hot for it.

I have never had success with cilantro. It's so picky.

Did container gardening years ago. Tomatoes did exceptionally well, lettuce too. If you can get a deep container, carrots should thrive. Herbs do very well. I've done cucumbers in containers up against the shed where I could support them with a trellis. I've done gourds and mini pumpkins the same way, up against a fence/trellis to support them. Last year did pole beans against a fence and they grew very well, up into the lilac bushes, LOL. One year I grew gourds in a container by the clothes line pole and had them hanging from the line. Peppers do very well too.

I'm surprised about the carrots. Great information. Thank you!
