This is Very Odd to Me

I ran across this ad. I guess what I got out of it was:

    1. We didn't train our dog very well so we need to re-home him
    2. I am going to turn down a home due to food preferences but not train him properly myself (SN: Is Diamond even a good food? I thought that was a crap brand but could be wrong)

Very odd ad. What do you think about it?

Well, they believe it's a good food. They just state they don't want the dog to be fed supermarket food.

It sounds like the dog acted aggressively towards their infant and they don't want to take chances. At least they didn't surrender him to the nearest kill-shelter and are trying to rehome the dog. Kudos for that. I hope they find the right home for him.

The yawning comment is interesting, considering yawning is a calming signal in dogs.

Sounds like idiots who cant handle training a young dog. Lazy, ignorant people. Im not buying the aggression toward the child either.

A dog who excessively yawns is an indicator of stress.

Just another typical craiglist ad, full of bs and another unwanted dog. I really hope he finds a more suitable home

The part about about the dog food is so stupid, kinda made me laugh to myself

I was wondering that too! I couldn't tell if it was a glare from the sun or if there is something in his eyes.

it's called a glass eye or cracked eye. Happens with merle breeds, catahoulas seem to get them the most.

Stunning dog. Catahoulas are WORKING dogs, and their require requires a certain personality, they must be ready work work wild boars and cattle. They can be wonderful dogs but need training and a leader. EXREMELY intelligent (in a way that means they are more work as they can and do outsmart humans). And generally not known to do things just to please you like a lab (gross over exageration of course). They are NOT a dog for everyone, but sadly as they look so COOL, everyone wants one. You get stopped on teh street A LOT with a catahoula. My last foster, Misty, was a catahoula mix (I foster mostly for a catahoula rescue, though not always catahoulas).

ETA: sigh they took on two working breeds that are known to need socialisation and work. They didn't do that and then had babies and are like "oops we messed up but can't work on it cuz of the safetly of teh baby". same old same old. Catahoulas are SUPPOSED to be wonderful family dogs but obviously that requires training and properly supervision/desensitization

Frustrating, so many people don't train their dog and let thigns go, then start having babies and are suddenly like "OMG this has to stop NOW and i can't afford a trainger" or "OMG the dog has to GO NOW". so so often. had the dogs just been trained in the outset or they picked a dog that not only fit their life NOW but in 3-4 years with kids ther wouldn't be so many dogs in shelters.

I think you hit on a major problem: People buy dogs based on looks or what THEY think a dog should be instead of researching the breed first. Then they run into trouble when they realize that they bought a breed that they can't take care of because the dog requires more than what the person could ever give them. Sad.

Me three! Thought it was the sun, but then noticed it's there on the inside pictures too.

Ugh... these types of ads make me sad. Some people don't realize that when you adopt a dog, they are your responsibility. They look to you and depend on you for everything. I know life throws curveballs, but you have to plan on taking care for that dog for its lifetime. Not a year or 2 until something else comes along like a baby. I see this far too often...
