Getting a computer to a child in Senegal (Africa)?

We sponsor a girl who is now a teenager in Senegal. She is headed toward teaching school and needs a computer.

Any idea on how to go about getting her one?

The other is a personal contact I have for a woman who has set up a foundation in Uganda. She used to work for me on the HIV team at Merck. Her org is Change A Life Uganda and she works with kids who have lost their parents to Aids. I am sure she could provide some guidance. Her email is on the website but PM me with your email and I can connect you if you'd like. She has done some extraordinary things.

Can you contact the school directly and purchase it through them, that way you don't have to deal with customs and shipping?

I found an address and fired off an e-mail to the group I sponsor her through. Hopefully they have a program or know of someone who does. If not, I'll definitely talk to your contact, Doreen. I don't want to waste her time if I'm missing something obvious. Our child turns 17 in May so I realized I can't ship to her directly yet since she's still a minor. Wasn't thinking there.

Wow! Laptop with software purchased! The sponsorship office Senegal got back to me with a quote lightning fast. Money sent and she should have the package delivered by her birthday in May. Have I mentioned how much I love the internet?
