    Yowzer! But, didn't that happen last year too? Our office has spikes sticking up along the edge of the steel roof to break up the snow and ice as it slid off. They worked. You still wouldn't want to be hit by snow or ice falling off but at least it would be by a smaller piece, maybe not do quite as much damage.

    It happened at our house in 2011. I thought it was 2013 but I looked at the time stamps on the photos and clearly I'm just losing track of time. The difference was that most of the one in 2011 slid off as a single ice sheet, providing a privacy screen for the living room. Fortunately the one this year broke off in pieces. The spikes are a good idea.
