    Pool

I want to get a pool for Oliver this summer. I was thinking one of those inflatable pools like the one in the link. Does anyone have any suggestions? I don't want to spend a lot in case he doesn't like it or doesn't use it.

I don't know how thick or sturdy the material is. Chase tore a hole in a small inflatable pool within 15 minutes of his first time in it. How do you get into the pool, or how would Oliver get in without scrabbling over the side? I'd be concerned about nails or teeth puncturing it. We just use a small rigid plastic chil's pool.

I would go with a hard, plastic $10 Walmart kiddie pool. Luna would tear a hole in the inflatable also.

I was wondering about him puncturing a hole in the pool. Good suggestions.

Yep. Big hard plastic one. Fill it halfway up and watch the show.

We use the hard plastic from Walmart about 4' diameter. Big enough for them to lay in and cool off. Will last several seasons in the sun and no punctures.
Even though she's no longer with us, we still call it Molly's pool.

I was able to find a 4' hard plastic pool at Toys-r-us last summer. I think I paid about $17 for it.

I'll be using it again this summer.

Speaking of dog pools (thanks for bringing this up; this'll be our first summer with a doggie!), what about maintenance of the water once it's in there. I mean, obviously if it's dirty it should be re-filled, but otherwise is there any recommendations as to water changes or whatnot? (I've had a human pool before and those need chemicals to keep the water from going bad.)

Or am I just over-thinking this?

The reason you can put chemicals into a pool is because there are pumps circulating the water. In a plastic tub the water is stagnate, and therefore chemicals won't do much. If it was me, I would empty it after each use, simply to keep mosquitoes away haha. Just fill it when you want to use it and don't worry about things like ph, alkaline, chlorine etc. Your pup won't care .

OR GO TO A LAKE! That's where I taught him to swim and retrieve etc.
