    thrilling to see her work

I took my new dog Hope out for some field trial training on the weekend. She aced it. It was so thrilling to see her work, doing what she was bred to do. It was really fun. It was pouring rain & very muddy but I was so intent on doing the right thing & giving her the right commands, I barley noticed.

I certainly won't be bird hunting but I would love to do more training with my dog. Any suggestions? some sport that uses her natural retrieving abilities.

Hope looks so proud of what she's doing and she should be.

Why not just take her to picnics, some trainers have regular group training that is reasonable, training days with your local breed/hunting club, etc.? You can also enter her into trials. You won't get another title, but it could still be fun.

It feels great when all of our training, patience and time poured into our fur babies comes together! Congratulations! I have a new pup I am working with...trying to get her to love to retrieve...only 8 weeks old right now, but all fun and games to begin with.

They get such joy out of retrieving feathers. Down deep, they know that's what they were meant to do.
