April almost escaped without our monthly portrait sitting.
Our ad hoc theme was sprouting plants.
We should have quite a cornucopia this year. All 36? of our garlic came up. We have (that is Faye has) planted leeks, celery, potatoes, radishes, mesclun mix. There is quite a bit more to come - zukes, chocolate cherry and Tiny Tim tomatoes, jalapeno, poblano, and Hot Hungarian peppers, tomatillos, butternut squash, chard, beans, sunflowers, corn. Today she dug in some asparagus crowns a neighbour gave us.

Do you all have a raised garden? It seems like you have quite a large selection and I am just curious how much area your garden occupies!

“Because of the dog's joyfulness, our own is increased. It is no small gift. It is not the least reason why we should honor as well as love the dog of our own life, and the dog down the street, and all the dogs not yet born. What would the world be like without music or rivers or the green and tender grass? What would this world be like without dogs?”

Love the picture. Where's the beverages? Lol

I guess we should post photos of our gardens.
The fenced in vegetable garden is 10 feet by about 45 feet. This encompasses the three compost bins, staging and work areas, and the actual garden which includes one raised bed. I guess things are more compressed than some folks might prefer. We also grow stuff in two other areas.
Just outside the fenced garden is where we located the potato box for this growing season. I suspect we'll have to locate some things adjacent to that. We also have a 'victory garden' in the front yard where last year we had wax beans and cilantro. The asparagus went out front adjacent to the haskap because there's where the most sun is, plus we'd already talked about replacing some of the lawn with a new bed planted in either ornamentals or edibles. The haskap and asparagus are both!
We counted 36 different things we grew last year. There wasn't a lot of any one thing.
Thank you. The beverages lurk behind the greenery.

You were just teasing us, weren't you???
Seriously, I love that you do these portraits...what a cool idea.
