    Well, That Was Fun

    NOT!!!

Am always checking the dogs for lumps and bumps while ignoring one on myself. DH finally heckled me into getting it checked out and taken off yesterday. Now I have a 3 inch incision across my back, just off midline, just below the shoulder blades where I can't take care of it myself.

Doctor initially said about an inch or so incision but when he got in there it was much bigger and deeper than he expected. He shot me full of numbing med and started. Oh Doc, OUCH! More med and continued working. Oh Doc, OUCH! More numbing med. Then a railroad track of stitches. Lump was a little smaller than a ping pong ball, deep underneath. Deep stitches, and skin stitches which can't come out for 2 weeks.

This afternoon DH changed the bandage - OUCH again. The skin is so tender. Had to rig a bandage big enough. Going to have to find something better.

Awaiting path report but Doc thinks it's a nothing.

Ouch. My husband had one on his back which would get infected at times. Finally, the dermatologist operated on it and turned out it was benign. So, sending good thoughts

Ouch! When I had my back surgery last year I had those deep stitches that had to stay in for 10 days, they were awful. By the time I went to get them out I would have removed them myself if it had been possible. They were uncomfortable when being removed but I felt amazing when they were finally out.
I hope you heal quickly, sending good thoughts and prayers your way.

    Hoping it's nothing.

I had a cyst removed from my neck about 25 years ago, I could not believe how big that thing was.

All good thoughts. I have to go in for something on my face that I'm afraid is basal cell cancer. It's all just so icky.

All good thoughts for your report.

I used to work with a man who had a lipoma on his back (first time I'd heard the term) that he refused to have removed...fear of surgery. That thing was the size of a softball. Needless to say, he usually wore jackets or at least didn't tuck his shirts in too tightly.

I hope it heals quickly! Isn't it funny how we take care of our dogs so fast, but put off things like this we find on ourselves?

Dogs and lots of people depend on you, look after yourself. Hoping for a good pathology report, Doctors are usually pretty good at guessing those things, he/she is most likely right. I bet the site bothers you whenever you sit or lie down so you'll just have to walk Archie all day. Take care.
