When you build something three times.....

you get pretty good at it. My wife bought a pergola from Home Depot that has a retractable shade canopy on top. Our pool area gets full sun so we need something to sit under. After building the roof structure on the ground we found we put a couple of bars in the wrong spot and had to redo it. Then after getting the roof on top of the posts my wife thought it would be a breeze to put the canopy on. That is until I heard a couple of swear words regarding missing holes to hook it into. Yep we put the bars on backwards and had to take the whole thing apart and do it all over. Thankfully the ends attached to the posts were fine so it was just middle bars.

If she brings home another box from any garden store that requires assembly I told her she will be paying me monthly alimony cheque.
    Thanks Everyone!!

And there is no photo of the finished product? How can we be sure you ever did get it right without a photo? REally, lots of times those instructions seem like they were translated from Ewokese and don't make sense and bits of instruction and materials are missing.

Congratulations for sticking it out. DH would have probably drilled new holes rather than take it apart once again.

That's funny because she said lets just drill new holes and get on with it and I just shook my head as I put the right bit on the drill to unscrew everything. No photos it's pouring rain out right now.
    Thanks Everyone!!

It's a family tradition around here to build something several times before its right and the running joke is if it goes together easy the first time something's not right.
