Maybe she can smell something in there? It's only been a week. Don't force her and praise her every time she even looks down that hallway. I think eventually her curiosity will get the best of her and she'll venture down there.
We have had Maggie for 7 days and she will not walk down our hallway or go near the hallway. I have tried carrying her down and then putting her down to show her there is nothing to be afraid of and she just makes a beeline back down the hall to the living room. Throwing her toys down the hall don't work either. Any suggestions? Nothing is in the hallway either for her to be afraid of. Its all clear and it has the same carpet as the living room.

I agree with what meeps83 has said, don't force it, carry her for now if you need to. Is the hallway more dark than other parts of the house? You could also try putting some treats in the hallway and praising her whenever she goes to them. You could start the treats at the beginning of the hallway and work back further over time.

When I first got Daisy (she was 7 mos) she was scared of stairs. She would not go down them for anything. Then one day it just stopped being scary.

Agree, don't force it. I think it takes time for a pup, or even an older dog, just arriving to get to know it's surroundings. Too much I think at once, might bring on fear reactions. I think in time that hallway will be no problem. Maggie's just getting used to or even still exploring the living room.

I think the right moment will come automatically. Don't force it.
Thank YOu everyone. I will just take time and not rush it.
I would put a leash on the dog, take them outside, get them very energized and then run back into the house with them and still running , run down the hallway. Lots of praise, treat, build up the energy again and then after running here or there in the house, head back down the hallway. I would do it over and over until there was no more fear.
I do not think it is healthy for a dog to get stuck in fear. I want my dogs to trust me, to follow me where I go, not to stop, plant feet and refuse because of fear. I want a well adjusted, balanced dog.

Has Maggie overcome her fear of the hallway now? I hope she has!
